Hi there,
Couple of my family members arrived to Canada last week on Visitor Visa. They hold Indian passport.
During immigration at the airport, the visa officer stamped the passports with the arrival date.
Am I safe to assume that they can stay with me in Canada for maximum of 6 months?
They hold visitor visas for 2 and 5 years.
Please reply.

(in reply to: passport stamp) The visa could be good for 2 and 5 years but it does NOT mean that they can stay in Canada for 2 and 5 years.
As visitors they can remain in Canada for a maximum of 6 months.
If they are planning on staying a little bit longer they need to apply for an extention at least 45 days before their status expires.
Cheers,
Bill
