Subject: Permanent residency for current student in US |

Hello,
I would like to apply for permanent residency in Canada under the skilled work category. I am currently a PhD student in the US and I get paid as research assistant (RA) for 20hrs/week (for past 4 yrs)
However, it is required to have at "least 1 year of 37.5hrs/week for full time job or equivalent in part-time continuous employment" to be eligible under this category. I am not sure what this means or how to show "equivalent in part-time continuous employment" part.
My question is: will they consider me working as RA as work experience? Then, if they do, is there any way by which I can show my work experience so that I can make it past the minimum 67 points?
I do not have any job offer at the moment and I am single. I am preparing myself to apply so that by the time I graduate in one year I have better chance to get a job in Canada.
Thank you for your advice and comments in advance,
Arvind

(in reply to: Permanent residency for current student in US) RA experience should be counted as part time (20 hrs/week =1/2 of full tme). Meaning you should get 1 year credit for 2 years of RA ship. Not sure the most recent though.

Permanent residency for current student in US (in reply to: Permanent residency for current student in US) Thank you for the information, it makes perfect sense that since I work half time, I can still show it as work experience.
