Subject: My spouse has just been given an "open...
My spouse has just been given an "open" work permit, however there are some restrictions on where she can actually work (such as daycare, schools, agric field services) however, a medical examination request form was sent with the work permit which must be done within 2 mths. My spouse came to Canada on tourist visa without medical examination

My question: Will CIC local office issue another Open Work Permit without any restrictions once the medical result is okay or how do I remove the restrictions?

Please advise.

probably not, but if they do then you are lucky, maybe. In these times, there may not be work anywhere even if the permit is wide open.

I sure hope so. I applied for a new work permit for my husband since i am here working under a skill level "B" which is a high skill worker. He applied after coming here just as a visitor. They issued him an open work permit with the same restrictions, i assume that they issued it without first receiving the results of the medical because he did take a medical about a month prior to submitting the application. SO i re-submitted a new work permit application in hopes that they would at least extend it to match the expircy date of my permit which is until september 2010.

I too would like to know. If my husband does get his work permit in the mail soon i´ll let you kow.
