I am a Canadian Citizen presently living outside of Canada. I got married recently and now have a child. The child is already a Canadian citizen and have a Canadian passport. Now I am sponsoring my wife to become a landed immigrant in Canada. My question is if I donīt get a job when I return to Canada after my wife gets the PR, will I be eligible for any assistance from the govt until I find employment.

you would not qualify for Employment insurance because you have not worked in Canada in the last year. Only option beyond that might be to apply for welfare. Not sure that they would accept your situation, how long you would have to wait before you qualified, and if it would be remotely enough to keep you afloat until you secured employment. Low chances on all 3 counts.

Best option is to come with some cash in your pocket - or have a family member willing to let you camp out for a while until you can get your life in order.

They are running out of money fast. You are unlikely to get a dime from the cookie jar. There are salvation army soup kitchen and such where you could find some food to survive... and you need friends who can allow you to stay with them rent free.
