Subject: One Family, One TRV Application (Sharon Advise)
I am a Pakistani who applied for TRV for myself as principal applicant and my wife and two kids aged 3 and 8 in the same application. The intention was to spend summer vacations with my sister and her family who are Canadian citizens. I also submitted all required documents as required from their website. Application was submitted in Abu Dhabi, UAE where I am working as a Mechanical Engineer with a well known company. My salary is approx USD 150,000/YEAR. Me and my family have a residence visa here. I was given a multiple entry visa valid for more than a year but my wife and both kids were refused due to Regulation 179 which basically means that they expect them not to leave Canada even though they think I will. The passports were returned together with a letter which does not say that I have been given visa instead it says that my application is refused. I am really confused why they gave me a multiple and my wife and kids a no no.
What should I do?
Please let me know if I apply TRV for myself as principal applicant and my wife and two kids in one application, why would only I get the visa and my wife and kids are refused. Should all of us not be refused together since it was one application? What must we do to prove that we are only going there for less than 2 months and will all come back together.

When one approaches any application as if they are entitled to a positive response sometimes they do not submit sufficient evidence to overcome the Visa Officers concern that your (whole family) will leave Canada.

You should of gone first and returned then applied for the WHOLE family. You could of also sent your partner with the kids to Paris first to show that they have traveled and returned to be with you and your TEMPORARY occupation in Dubai.

Commenting on Roy´s response:

So, if someone want to go to X country ...does it mean that he/she should go first to Z country in order to satisfy the visa officer ?! hahahah ,,,,,really funny.

no, if someone from a country that is economically depressed wants to come with all that matters to Canada, they need to convince CIC that they will be going home. Given how many folks forget to go to the airport when it is time to leave, it is not an unrealistic concern. Proving intent is a big deal - so laugh all you like.

This individual wanted to come with his whole family.

With the situation the way it is in Pakistan who would not blame any Visa Officer for making sure that some CBSA supervisor might write his/her boss and say WHY did your guy issue the whole family CVV´s?

Everyone wants to advance in their careers and Visa Officers are no different.

If the applicants had done a better job of showing that they comply with other countries Immigration Laws when it comes to Temporary status applications then of course the chances of obtaining CVV´s for the whole family increase.

Try as you may Anonymous 49.14.13 to show me wrong I relish the challenge. LOL

All of us went on a trip to Germany, France, Italy and Spain a few months back and returned with no break of any rules. So I did prove that we did not break any rules just a few months back.

GIVEN UP !!! (in reply to: One Family, One TRV Application (Sharon Advise))
In addition to our trip to Europe a few months back, my job here in Abu Dhabi is not so TEMPORARY as if for a limited period/contract. It is a direct hired position with retirement benefits at age 60 (20 years to go). Well one can say that all jobs are temporary but its as permanent as is possible with any job anywhere in the world. All documents including a letter from my company were submitted.
Also, yes I was planning to go with my WHOLE FAMILY as is normally done when one plans to go on a summer vacation to meet ones further family. And I don´t think any of you guys normally goes on a scouting visit (alone) to another country before you take your whole family along just to prove that you know your way to an exit in that country.
And what is a CVV? I applied for a TRV.
When someone from a country like mine has a good, stable and LEGAL job in a country nearer to his home country, why would he want to move to a country far far away with illegal status which means no stable job or future for him or his family?
Anyway, we are disappointed even though we re-applied for my wife and kids because she still thinks the system would be "FAIR" and that we can clarify our position to the officer if only he/she would call us for an interview but I personally think its just money going down a drain because it is easier to say NO than to go through the bundle of documents that have been submitted with application.
There is no possibility to talk to any PERSON from the Canadian embassy. Only a machine on the phone and auto-replies on email. I am sorry that we will not meet my sister who we have not met in years because of the technology that takes the human factor out of most things these days.
