I found out today that my partner has been approved for permanent resident status. However, we have a problem as we booked flight for 9 July to go to Canada to get house etc sorted x 2 months, and High Commission now asking for his passport x several weeks to put in visa pages, so it would be with High Commission when we planned on flying. You can go in person which is faster, but you have to wait 10 days before picking Passport up again, and that would be too late (would fall on the same day we fly). You´re only allowed to go Thursdays between 2 and 3pm so there´s no flexibility there
Any suggestions? Should he cancel his flight and lose the money ? or fly to Canada anyway and post his passport to High Commission after? We´re a bit stuck and you can´t make case specific enquiries until after 6 months

(in reply to: Arriving in Canada) If your partner flys to Canada without the visa, more likely he will be refuse of entry and then things will go south from there. Bad idea....
Pretty much you have to cancel your trip and re-schedule it.
Cheers,
Bill

This is a huge gamble. July 9 is 3 weeks away. Most airlines will reschedule for you this far in advance.
