| Subject: Change my omani driving licence to a canadian one |
Hi,
I moved recently to Calgary from Oman. I have a valid omani driving licence, do i need to have a driving test or can i change it directly to a canadian driving licence?

my two cents,
If your foriegn driving license is more than two year old you get credit of one year which means you can appear for your G2 road test straight after your G1, and on successful completion of your G2 road test you are free to drive alone responsibly on Canadian roads.
The Canadian road test is three level.
G1 which is a multiple choice exam testing your rules and regulation skill. On successful completion of G1 you can drive with a successful G license holder of 4yr driving experience only (cannot drive alone).
One can give G2 test after one year of a Valid G1, or the scenario mentioned above. G2 is only a drive test held on roads other than freeway.
After successful completion of G2 you have one year to complete the G drive test which is freeway driving test.

Sorry but G1/G2 doesn´t apply in the province of Alberta.
You will have to write an exam and if you pass it you will get a class 7 driver´s licence which allows you to drive with a person with a full class 5. You cannot drive by your self while holding a class 7. Normally a person has to hold it for 2 years and then apply for a class 5. In your case you can apply right away for a full class 5 which will require a road test.

do all thesee rules apply to any person regardless if he or she is over 25 or 26 years old...? is age a factor?

and what if someone needs to drive for work...does he have to wait 2 or 4 years before being able to drive? and what if he has noone else (experienced driver) to sit with him while drives??
some of the rules don´t seem to be practical for many people

Canada has a reciprocal driver´s license agreement with some countries in Europe, Japan and the US.
Being over 18 doesn´t make any difference.
If you don´t have anyone to drive with, you have to apply for a FULL CLASS 5 driver´s license which requires a road test.

hi I got experience letter from Royal Police of Oman of my driving license. but its in Arabic, shall i translate from here and require for attestation. nearest canadian embassy in Riyadh KSA. should I have to send my experience letter to there for attestation?

i have just received my omani driving licence and am moving to canada , so what are my chances of getting a DL there ? do i have to give all the exams, does my omani DL hold any good without experience, do i get any advantage bcoz of this DL or I hav to start newly there ?
