Subject: declaration of severance of common-law relationshi
  Hi,

What exactly does this Declaration mean? My wife was in a previous common law relationship in which she received a Permanent Residence Card from. Now the ex is asking for the date of when my wife received the PR Card, as he will be notarizing a Declaration of Severance of Common-law relationship. He has indicated that he has married recently and needs this declaration in order to move out of Canada. Will this affect my wife´s PR Card renewal? Are there other implications we need to consider with regards to this? Why would he need the date of when the PR Card is received?

Thanks

because he entered a 3 year covenant with the goverment to look after your wife when he sponsored her. depending on how quickly the separation occured after her landing, there may be some questions whether the relationship was actually used for immigration purposes only.

will it affect her renewal... only if she used her partner to obtain entry into Canada. if not... there should be no problems.

More likely he is out sponsoring again.

What is the big deal if he is leaving Canada?

For some reason this guy seems up to no good.

Hi,

Thanks for the responses. This is what I don´t understand. This is an excerpt of his email to me:

"...I "Only" need to know when she got her "Perminent Residence Card"
All I need is the date. (Her PR card will have the date)

With this declaration, and the date of the Perminent Resident Card date.
I can submit this form proving I have seperated from common law relationship for over 3 years.

The reason for this formality is because as of June 1st I have married. I require this paper for me to move..."

My wife received her PR Card 4 years ago, and her ex broke off the relationship a year after. So it´s already been 3 years from the date of separation, so I´m asking myself why is the PR Card date needed?
