Subject: Marrying a Canadian outside of Canada
I am getting married to a Canadian outside of Canada ( in Bermuda). I am a British Citizen. We will be living in Bermuda for the next year and then moving back to Canada. What paper work do I need to fill out so that when I move to Canada I am allowed to live and work?

Hi,

You and your spouse will have to fill out a spousal sponsorship application. That is the easiest way for someone who has married a Canadian citizen to become a permanent resident and be able to live and work in Canada .

Basic information, as well as links to the application itself (FYI - the application is in .pdf files so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view them), can be found at this site - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/fc.html

If after going over that information you have any other questions, just ask.

Marrying a non-Canadian outside of Canada (in reply to: Marrying a Canadian outside of Canada)
Hello,

I will be getting married next year to a non-Canadian in Cuba. We are currently living in Bosnia and Herzegovina and will be returning here after the wedding. Since I am the one who will be changing my last name, what paperwork do I need to fill out as a Canadian once married? We will ultimately move to Canada in the near future, so I guess there will be other paperwork that we´ll need to fill out for my soon to be husband...

THanks
