Subject: Sponsor Parents while working outside Canada |

|
Hi all members,
I have acquired citizenship one year back. I am now planning to sponsor my parents and also my wife´s parents to Canada. Can I apply at the same time? We both are professionals and earning well.
Also, I am planning to leave Canada soon to work overseas on expat status for 3-4 years. What would be implication to my parents (sponsor) application if I cut my residential ties since I would be Non Resident for tax purposes?
Please advice.
Regards - Vicky

(in reply to: Sponsor Parents while working outside Canada) Who can sponsor?
You may be eligible to sponsor if:
the person you want to sponsor is a member of the family class;
you are 18 years of age or older;
you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
you live in Canada;
you sign an undertaking promising to provide for the basic requirements of the person being sponsored and, if applicable, his or her family members;
you and the sponsored person sign an agreement that confirms that each of you understands your mutual obligations and responsibilities;
If you live in Quebec, see Step 2 of How to apply to sponsor for additional information on forms to complete.

(in reply to: Sponsor Parents while working outside Canada) Vicky, you can´t have it both ways. if you don´t want Canada just to save a few dollars, why should Canada want your parents?
People like you make me furious.
