Subject: Ron/Sharon- PLS Help me Settlement funds
  Hello Ron/Sharon,

I am doing my landing on 07-01-2009 with my family (wife + 3 yrs kid) from USA. I am taking US bank´s "Cashier´s Check" for USD 20K with me to show as my settlement funds.

Could you please tell me whether they accept "USA bank´s Cashier´s Check" as settlement funds?

Everybody saying that bank statement is enough to show them as the settlement funds. Can I take a print out of my bank account transactions in online and show it to the immigration officer or do I need to take a special letter from the bank?

I already took a Cashier´s Check from Bank of America for 20K on my name.

Please give me your suggestion. I am running out of time and at the end I got this doubt, now I am not able to sleep.

thanks in advance.

here is the test... Canada wants to know if you have enough cash (that you don´t owe uncle Louie that you have available to pay your rent, electric etc. when you arrive in Canada. They have determine a minimum and you should show how you have that money available to you. A single named bank account should do it. What might make them nervous is if the money went into the account 2 days before you printed off the statement for CIC submission. Make sense????? It is all logic.

Thanks Sharon (in reply to: Ron/Sharon- PLS Help me Settlement funds)
do you mean US bank cashier´s certified check is sufficient? I dont know whether i can deposit that check to open an account in canadian bank or not. Even in US the Bank of America people also not aware of that.

so now at the nick of moment i got this doubt, could you please tell me this will be a problem for me?

If you think they wont accept Cashier´s check then I can convert into cash an carry with me (ofcourse i will declare it in my arrival slip before reaching the immigration counter).

Every where i found that Bank Draft is acceptable not the bank cashier´s check.

Please help me ...

of course a bank draft/cashier cheque is OK. Make sure you can show them where the money came from as a back up.

thanks again for your reply Sharon (in reply to: Ron/Sharon- PLS Help me Settlement funds)
I am thinking to take my w2 for the past two years to show the immigration officer as a support document to say the cashier´s check money is mine.

I am thinking to take couple of other bank statements to show them in addition to the cashier´s check.

I think thats all I can do. Please advise me if you think that I missed anything.
