Honduran fiancée, better to marry there or here? (in reply to: Honduran fiancée, better to marry there or here?)
I am currently engaged to a woman in Honduras, and was wondering if it would make a difference for us to marry there or here. We plan on returning to Canada to live for a few years, then eventually return to Honduras. I am a Canadian citizen, she is Honduran. Also what is the average process time to sponsor a wife to Canada? Is there any way to slip stream the process? Is it more advisable to hire an immigration lawyer right from the start? Please help.

The answer to your question depends on his and her´s personal circumstances.

If it is her first marriage, Honduras is the place to get married. Her family should be in attendance. At least one family member or friend should attend from your side.

Do you need to hire someone, depends. Most will say no but if you have to ask basic common sense questions about where best to get married, maybe. When retaining someone to assist make sure they have plenty of quality experience and provide references.

When you retain quality representative the money spent should drastically reduce processing times by almost eliminating the chance of an interview. There by getting her here permanently faster.

The best way is outside of Canada for several reasons.

Prove your relationship.

why was he deported? did you ever sponsor him? how long had he been in Canada illegally?

there is no quick fix. You need to sponsor him, and he needs to be approved. It will likely take about a year without complications.
