Yesterday after winning a Spousal Appeal at the ADR stage for a client with a spouse from southern China the officer said 100% of all marriages from southern China should be refused.
His application was refused because even though he was Chinese there was no evidence submitted he spoke Mandarin. The language of his wife. Canadian of Chinese background raised in Hong Kong works at RBC in a Asian Call Centre for the Bank.
Still that was not sufficent to prove he could speak Mandarin. We booked a Mandarin Interpreter so there would be (no doubt) he spoke Mandarin.
