I have successfully and peacefully landed in Canada. The officer was very friendly and welcoming. I was very prepared and gave her (and the customs) all the required information.

After years of wiaiting for this long-awaited moment, everything took just few minutes ..Strange, isn´t it?

Now I am in Vancouver...a very pretty city. I´ve also started my job. I don´t know how my life and future will be here but I just hope for the best...

I settled in a small apartment I rented through criagslist.com before landing. I went directly from the airport to my apartment. It is very close to my work place.

There are many similarities as well as differences between the life here and the United States. They are both different and similar at the same time..

Life in Vancouver seems to be very expensive (as I compare it with my life back in the United States but I feel very fotunate to be "employed" otherwise it will be extremely hard to live here without a "source of living". I realized how hard it is for those who land without having a job in hand or those who land with big families (I am single)...I wish you all nothing but all the best.

It has been now a week since I landed ..Transition was huge for me on all the aspects..trying to cope with the new life....... Life goes on... looking for the future with many fears..and hopes..

Wish you all the best. Thanks for the advices posted on this great forum.

Hello and welcome to our Great country!! I am sure in time you will come to Love It, as we do... the great thing is you live in the one province where your recreational opportunities are limited only by your imagination! You´ve got the ocean, the mountains, forest and urban sprawl at you´re disposal and the weather? Aaaah... you are indeed, fortunate.

I live next door in unpredictable Alberta with deep cold winters and blink-and-you´ll-miss-it Spring/Fall and well, this year, not much of a summer, so count your lucky stars!

Waitaminute, hmm...maybe I should be moving West! Heh heh...

As for adjusting, you´ll have bad days when you long for "home", miss every single person terribly (even the ones you thought you´d NEVER miss, lol) and crave the small comforts and ammenities you once knew so well. But on the days when the sun is shining, you feel the salt air off the sea and listen to the cries of the gulls, you will feel at peace knowing where you are is where you´re supposed to be.

So peace be upon you Anonymous, and welcome, to one of the greatest countries in the world! :)

You are right..I am very impressed with the beauty of the city..the meeting of the water with the mountains and the green lands gives fascinating scenes..the sea gulls fly around me in my way to the work in the morning and back to my house in the evening...! Everything is clean and neat..

However, I am missing my home so much and wish to go back!..may be I am crazy..sure I am..
