Subject: Landing in Canada, please help-- Roy, Sharon, Wann
  Hello,

I just received my passport with the Canadian stamp-visa. I am from the states and travel to Canada every week. Is it possible to keep traveling to Canada as if I didn´t received my passport with the Canadian stamp? The reason I am asking, is due to the fact that I need more money. I can´t find a job in Ontario, so I have to stay in the states for a few more weeks to earn more money. I want to stay in the states and travel to Canada every week until I get more money to pay off bills for the insurance, import of vehicle, and other fees. Is that possible?

When people received their passport with the Canadian stamp-visa, they have to land and they can´t travel back and forth?

Please help, thank you....

You can travel back and forth as much as you need, Canada doesn´t mind. You can return to the US at the same day of landing.

I wouldn´t recommend to pretend that you didn´t recieve your PP with immigrant seal. That means you are entering as a visitor, not as an intended immigrant. In immigration world it is called dual intention and may bear severe consequence. Just land in Canada as an immigrant and stay in the US..back and forth as much as you need...Just keep in mind the mandatory residency obligation of Canada.

Having received my immigrant visa to canada carrying single entry. What does single entry means? Does it mean i cannot enter and go back and come in with the same visa?
Are there important documents I must bring while landing in Canada as an immigrant? Pls help urgently i am confused.

You must land the first time you cross the border with your new PR visa. After that, it is up to the border official whether or not they will allow you to enter solely as a visitor. We had a similar experience when we first landed; we needed to wrap up details in the states, find a job up north, sell our house etc before making the move permanent. We did end up crossing after landing and before moving, but each time there were more questions to answer. DC is right; always be honest, do it the right way, and you should have no trouble.

"Having received my immigrant visa to canada carrying single entry. What does single entry means"

- Single entry immigrant visa means that you can land in Canada as a PR, only for 1 time. Then that visa will be void automatically and you have to have your PR card to reenter into Canada in the future. Usually the PR card will take around 1 month to arrive in your address for the newly landeds. Process is automatic once you land at any Canadian border visa port. In case you need to go out of Canada before getting the PR card in hand you need to have another immigrant visa (Travel document) from the Canadian consulate at your country by paying $50.

Osadens,

You should be fine. The current law requires that you have to physically stay in Canada 2 years in every 5 years. That 2 years can be combination of any lenght at your choice as long as the sum in 5 year is 2 years.

osadens: you should come to Canada, do ur landing, wait for the PR card and then move back to the UK.

i landed and automatically the visa was void as was said above, i received my PR card 3 weeks later so it shouldnt be a problem for you.

Abusoko: once you land the visa becomes void and you need to wait for the PR card to ba able to travel again without any complication. when u land you need to have the "confirmation of residence" form and of coure your passport with the visa on it. make sure u don´t touch or sign the "confirmation of residence" or sign it before you land cos u will do that in front of the immigration officer when u land.

verification on Immigration Documents rec'd by applicant (in reply to: Landing in Canada, please help-- Roy, Sharon, Wann)

Three questions as follows:-

1.I received the Canadian immigrant (permanent residence) visa issued to me the name was differ from my HKSAR passport as follows :-

HKSAR passport name : Chan Mei Ling Grace
The Canadian Immigrant visa issued : Chow Mei Ling
(omitted Grace)

I sent a letter to the Canadian Consulate for verification they replied verbally on the phone only (without letter confirmation)they said ok becos can´t fix "Grace" by the limitation space of their system. Beside, my husbnad name is error on the confirmation of permanent residence (IMM5292), it should be Nicola, not Nichola, they said also ok no need to correct!
They said their internal data all names are right, So, don´t worry, no need to send back the passport for correction. Just prepare your departure date to land.

May I want to know is it ok for the names errors occured like that ?

2. My Canada immigrant visa expiry date is : August 1 2012
Pls confirm I must arrive/proceed the first landing in Canada latest ob/before August 1 2012.

3. Since my application of city landing is Montreal, Quebec. May I the first landing entry port either in Vancouver or Toronoto becos there´s no direct flight from Hong Kong to Montreal. Beside, what documents I must bring together with me for the first landing port. Do I need to being together with the Selection Certificate becos the original of this docu is keeping in Canada (my home in Canada)

I Appreciate very much your help & advise.

Thanks you again!

Best Regards-Grace
