Subject: crossing the border
Hello,

I plan to go to US and come back to Canada by road. When I enter Canada back - will the Canada Border Officer stamp my Indian passport with a date on it? I am currently working on a work permit in Canada.

Thank you.

Can´t say for sure. Depends on the border official. Usually by road they don´t seal, except you need to go into their office inside for some reason; like custom inspection....more detailed question about your immigration...

If you got away just from the booth then no seal.

Yes for the concern first of all as you are on a workpermit you are permitted to travel from and to the US from Canada..Are you going to travel by air or road?? But whatever you do will be recorded to your records..As it can not be said if the official will stamp it or not it depends on the mood of the officer.. Also make sure that you take your passport along with the workpermit and make sure that it is up to date before expiry date...Make sure you satisy the border officers to all their enquires upon asked also they can also verify to all information if they need to depending on situations.. So hope that helped you ..best of luck for your trip..

Yes, I would be travelling by road.

It is very important for me to get the stamp on my passport, and hence the concern

So, is it not 100% sure that the border officer would stamp my passport when I enter Canada?

I thought you wanted the opposite, not to get the stamp.

Now, it is lot easier; just request the officer that you need the entry seal and they´ll be glad to do that without any hesitation.

Do you have a visa to enter the US?. The fact that you have a work permit does not entitle you to enter the US.

Upon your arrival just ask the CBSA officer to stamp your passport.

Cheers,

Bill
