Subject: DEPENDENT CHILD
I´ve got a very important question.

The scenario´s like this. There´s a conflict between the husband and wife. The husband is in Canada. He wants to get the child only, the wife stays in her country. Is it possible to sponsor your child without sponsoring the spouse first? If it is, then what are the procedures and requirements?

Thanks in advance for those who know the answer and will reply. =)

yes, but the mother of the child will have to provide legal consent. If there is conflict... the wife would be a fool to grant it. It is a perfect recipe to never see your child again and CIC would be scrutinizing the file very, very carefully.

sorry to bother ur summer escapades sharon =)

what if we can prove that the mother is not capable of taking care of the child? the mother is just 19 yrs old and she´s at fault here. aside form the legal consent, do we also need to have an approval from our social welfare office here? the child is 2 yrs old.

thanks so much for ur info. its greatly appreciated.

you will likely need legal assistance. she is going to have to reliquish custody. not an easy thing, regardless of her capacity to parent.

yeah, we know. she´s still the mother of the child. no one can change that. we´re checking all the possible option that we have to petition the child right away. just the child, hehehe.. any suggestions?

no short cuts, and CIC will make sure every detail is crystal clear. The last thing they want is some mother saying Canadian immigration helped her estranged husband take her baby/child away.

long, slow and difficult - no options. sorry
