no, we have not been captured by alien beings... we have been captured by summer.

Vancouver broke records yesterday at 31C it is a little better to day at 27C but we also have folk festivals, dragon boat races and very nice beaches to play on all weekend. Far more fun that an immigration forum - sorry.

I am sure Roy is sipping a cool one in his back yard with his family.

that is what Canadian summers are all about.

Enjoy.

Summer what summer?

We have not had a hot and humid day yet in the GTA. We have had festival after festival with warm spring like temperatures, but summer! Even the Toronto garbage strike does not smell that bad. Seriously.

Caribanna is about to happen and the Ladies might need winter coats to wear over their costumes to keep warm. This festival makes the Indy Race look like a knitting circle. Caribana is so lively maybe the participants will bring some warmth.

We keep hearing the Americans are still visiting Toronto.

The beaches in Ontario are basically deserted no one is insane enough to stick their big toes in the water. Ice cream vendors are crying and that ice cream truck guy has even stopped playing his tune.

Well the guy who still has a job on Monday says next week we will have seasonal temperatures. SEASONAL TEMPERATURES WOW!!!

Glad others are having a summer.

There is no summer on the east coast either. We wear jeans and sweaters during the daytime and we still have an extra quilt on our bed at night. It rains or threatens to rain nearly every day and the fog is so thick sometimes I can barely see across the street. My tomatoes are waterlogged and cold, my basil literally rotted in its pot, and my first year garden refuses to grow with the lack of sunshine.

I just returned from almost 2 weeks in PEI and Nova Scotia and it seemed to me that tourism must be way down this year. In mid July there were signs for vacant cottages in Cavendish--that can´t be normal--and the beaches were completely vacant. Charlottetown and Halifax were lovely as always but not as busy as we´ve seen them in previous years.

It may not be grilling season yet, but I´m not complaining. I´ll take the fog over blistering heat and withering humidity any day, even if I do have to wait until next year to enjoy a decent tomato.

we may decide we want to trade summers after all. Fires are breaking out and there is no end in sight. Bad, bad situation out here.

we have 12,000 police and firefighters arriving in town in the next 2 weeks for the Police and Firefighters Games. I am wondering if we can conscript the firefighters to help save Kelowna and surrounding area from the wrath of our fabulous summer.

I am serious.

Thanks Sharon and Wannabe for your concern.

Yeah it has been really nasty and smokey lately in this neck of the woods.

I am far enough from Glendrosa (where most of the fire is). I am located in the Upper Mission area and we are under an evacuation alert but it we are doing well so far.

I went away for 3 weeks and when I got back half of this place was in fire!!
Geezzz!

I will keep yoy guys posted.
Thanks again!

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks for letting us know you are okay, Bill. Hoping for the best for your town.

Roy, yeah, it warmed up here for a couple days too--it´s 21C!--, but the rain is coming back tonight. No complaints here, I love the beach in the fog and drizzle. :)

Have fun at your festivals for me in Toronto, Roy. I love TO in the summer!

sorry to hear about your soggy summer. It was even on our news last night.

We are at half our historical rainfall for May, June and July and they are predicting 28C for Vancouver today which is at the upper range of our summer temps. The fire threat is terrible. Bill will likely be on pins and needles until the end of September.

This would be a great summer for tourists... if there were any! Pretty slow out there.
