i am going to make my first landing in canada as a PR next June with my wife and 2 children. we are egyptian. i just want to ask do we need a tourism visa to USA cause i plan while i´ll be waiting for the PR card i´ll rent a car and travel to USA with the family and see its Sights. I never apply for a US visa. can you tell me how long does it take to issue the visa and whether do i have to apply for it before my landing. what is the procedure? is it easy to do?

Dear Egyptian:
Landing to US from Canada will be subject to certain conditions:
1. Sufficient Funds to show that after Visa expiration you will either come back to canada or leave for Egypt
2. Visa application

before u try to go to the USA you better wait for the PR card to come in the mail, cause u will need it to cross back ...depends on how u travel..air, train...although i think if u´re driving u don´t need it...but make sure u get the right information before u leave
anyhow u need to apply for the visa and u need to convince them that u will be going back to Canada

Answering your question.
You need a B1/B2 visa to enter the United States.
You may apply at your local US embassy either from Egypt or once you are here.

Ummmmmm....Egyptian..applying to enter the US once landed in canada..no ties to canada (because just landed)..no ties ,of course, to Egypt (because he just escaped from the misery of his country to Canada) ..Umm...If the immigration officer doesn´t reject your visa, I will definitely do...

I don´t see any reason for being hostile to this guys even without knowing his story. People immigrate into Canada or any other places for many reasons, each one may have unique story. People even migrate from the western developed country, so escaping for Egypt like comments would just make a pathway for racial remarks.
Anyway, He needs the US consular visa. Has to face the interview, almost impossible to pass without a stable job and more ties in Canada. I would say at this moment just forget about it, finish your work there first and then come.
Another thing, without the PR card in hand you even can´t face the visa interview in Canada as a Canadian PR. That´ll be the first thing they´ll ask you to show.

For Pali and Manitoba, i just want to tell that if US visa come through anti Egyptians like you so i don´t need is at all.
For DC_RC regarding the stable job i am already doing the official preparation by the attorney there with a group of investors to establish a new construction company and i´m a partner in. i´m just waiting for next June because the school academic year of my children. And i knew that Canada has many touristic sights so i may enjoy the summer traveling around Canada and next summer i may travel abroad.

Landing in Canada is nothing to brag about... If you landed on Moon or Mars, it is a whole different story. But even those who landed on Moon and mars are keeping modestly quiet these days... So I would say don´t brag about your falling into Canada; instead get to work.... they need a lot of workers.... shelving all them goods everywhere... good luck.

I agree with ITS - you are not landing on the moon! You will find the whole experience very anti-climatic, just like custom clearance when you vacation out of the country.
