British Columbia
Vancouver

Rent of a studio or one bedroom apartment: 500 (uncommon)-1000 9average) CAD/month
Transport (Bus) + food: 500-1000 CAD/month

Others e.g. phone/fees of many services/clothes/furniture: variable (average 500 CAD)

Roughly, a total of 1500-2000 CAD/month is needed for ONE person to live at the basic/minimal standards of living!! (i.e. survival only!).

Therefore, if you land without a job, make sure you have enough savings to cover the first six months (2000 x 6 = 12000 AT LEAST)until you find a job for survival.

If you don´t have this money but you are willing to work at ANY job => welcome to Canada

If you don´t have this money but you are interested in working in your field => be very cautious and weigh things carefully..

Go and work in a Oil and Gas industry where u can get more than 15000 CAD/month.
Salary in Oil and gas are good.
By the way Pappu bhai whats your area of specializing? if Oil and Gas OK
otherwise try for Mcdonald/PizzHut/Applebeas they pay also at par with Oil and Gas industries.
you can save your food bill by working in Eating joints.
Wishing u happy stay in canada

You need a good attitude: be able to work in restaurants and shops. You need to prepare to work till from Sun-up till Sun-down. Hard working ppl are likely to succeed even if the place is tough to live. If you have family, leave them behind and show up alone: a single person can sleep just about anywhere to rest and work long hours without much complaining.

Bus + food figure is too high. Is a monthly bus pass over CAD$100? If you´re on a really tight budget, e.g., you decided to work part time only so you can go to graduate school, you can live on $200/mo food budget. That´s easily possible if you cook from scratch (must brown bag your lunch). No TV dinners, they´re not very healthy foods anyway. Restrain yourself from the urge to eat out (it´s just so comfy/convenient to just eat in restaurants).

My phone bill is CAD$11.20/month (Telus prepaid) + US$19.99/year (MagicJack). I get unlimited US/Canada incoming/outgoing calls on my Magicjack. Well, I did get a US phone number but that´s never been a problem. My Telus phone is only for emergencies but I do give it out to relevant people (doctors, etc.) and do enable unlimited incoming calling when I´m expecting a lot of calls on some days. Generally, most calls are not critical. They can just go to voice mail and I´ll listen to them later.

Cable internet - CAD$47/month. No cable TV since I just watch TV on the internet.

No other utilities to pay since my rent includes electricity, hot water, and heat.

Oh, add the CAD$54/mo BC MSP premium.

You don´t have to buy clothes every month but if you don´t have a lot of appropriate clothes for what you´re going to do here, you´ll have a lot of initial clothes expenses. Buy just a few stylish, high quality-material clothes that you can mix-and-match in several different combinations. After your initial expenses, you can just add a little bit to your wardrobe at a time. Sad to say, I usually buy my clothes from the States. Good quality clothes are a lot cheaper even compared to the prices they have at Winners here.

If you do love the night life though, prepare to spend a lot, like a couple of hundreds extra per week.
