Toronto Summer?

Subject: Toronto Summer?
The grim facts: Toronto hasn´t been this chilly since the Jays won a World Series. This summer saw the coldest June since 1993, and the coldest July since 1992.

The average temperature over the last two months was 18.2C, well below last year´s average of 20.6C, which wasn´t exactly tropical to begin with.

And the city has had only one day above 30C all year – and that was more than a month ago. By this time last year, Toronto had recorded nine days above 30C.

Worst of all, Toronto has had 17 per cent less sunshine than last summer, despite the fact that 2008 was the rainiest summer on record.

I have been watching your plight on the news. Hopefully August redeems the summer.

We are at the opposite end of the problem. The entire province is in extreme fire risk from no rain and record temperatures. We don´t generally have A/C here so when the thermometer was stuck at 35 and it only went down to 29 at night on Wednesday, we were all a little cranky.

Can we trade for 3 days?

We are enjoying the chill summer somehow though missing the sunshine a lot. This evening is like a typical December one of central Florida. But At least no need for AC at all which could´ve been an issue for us in the rental unit. I remember some Aug days in the past were too hot and humid.

I hope all are enjoying your Holiday weekend and your A/C Bill. Just warm enough to barbecue here.

Let´s enjoy the good weather Vancouverites - let´s hope it stay around until the end of the PNE. Occasional rain in the late evening will be fine by me - because I don´t carry an unbrella. I always enjoy the dog shows and am looking forward to getting my salmon jerky and mini-napkins at the PNE. And after 15 years, I am still trying to bring myself to order an Ostrich Burger (!!) and for my name to be picked for the PNE Prize Home. Good summer for me.

are you kidding? The PNE is the curse of summer. The minute the fair starts, the weather tanks - every year!

I like the mini donuts and the show mark building with all the gizmos and gadets. Super Dog is always fun.

That´s why we need to pray for the rain-less days to stay around, at least until the PNE is over!
On the other hand, some rain in the evening won´t be bad - the field across my building is so dry, not a pretty sight.

we need more than a few days of rain. At 150 new fires being started every day, if we don´t get rain soon, the ugly, dry field will the be the least of our worries.

There are 10,000 police and firefighters in town for a sporting event. Wonder if we can put some of them to work saving some homes and trees.
