Subject: What if some one is not able to maintain PR status
How does one become citizen of Canada after landing with PR status. As i may be coming to Canada, can you provide me with some websites where i can submit my CV. I am an IT professional.

regards

If you land and are unable to maintain the amount of stay required to maintain your PR, you lose it and there will be no question of citizenship. On the other hand, there are many folks in IT... which is complex and varied field. You need to look for jobs that require the specific set of IT skills you have. I doubt anyone can answer broad questions like, are there jobs for science major? LOL

Vicky: 3 years of physical presence in Canada after attaining your permanent resident status will qualify you to apply for Canadian Citizenship status. Whether you are going to get it will depend on meeting requirements (criminality, passing a Citizenship written exam, etc.)
If you need info on how to apply for PR under Federal Skilled Worker class (IT is in it), check out the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website - you are an IT person so should have no problem finding it. Problems, email me at immigrate2canada4u@gmail.com.

Does this mean that one has to physically stay in straight 3 years in the Province you applied at? But is it allowed to have a short trip vacation outside of Canada?

It is 3 years out of 4 preceding the date of application. The days you were out of Canada are not counted towards citizenship including short vacations. You are free to reside in any province once you have become a PR.

Sridas,

When in doubt, use the Citizenship calculator ... you just put in the date you wish to file (sign-off) the CITIZENSHIP application ... minus the days you may be away from Canada etc., it will tell you if you are eligible. Link: http://services3.cic.gc.ca/rescalc/resCalcStartNew.do?&lang=en
