Subject: Want to apply for citizenship!!!!!!!!!Need advise
  Hi everyone,
I´m planing to apply for citizenship but I´m little bit confuse. If anyone help me then will be highly appreciated. Here´s my situtation.
1. I came to Canada on Aug 2006 as permanent resident.
2. Left Canada on Nov 2006 and came back Mar 2007.
3. Left Canada on Apr 2007 and came back sep 2007. Since then I´m living permanently.
I also do on CIC´s residencey calculation but it is showing me that I´m short almost 8 months for psysical presence but my basic presence is Aug 2009. Now, my question is can I apply for citizenship on my basic presence or not? Or do I´ve to wait for 1095 days psysical presence to apply for citizenship.
Thank you

You need physical presence of 1095 days out of 4 years preceding the date of citizenship application.

Thanks Samm and Stell for your quick reply. As per Samm, I´ve to fulfill 1095 days of physical presence. How about 1095 days of basic presence? Can I apply with 1095 days of basic presence? Suggestion please.
Thank you

When calculating your eligibility for citizenship, you must subtract your absences from Canada. Only a citizenship judge can determine if you meet the residence requirements if you apply with fewer than 1,095 days of physical presence.

If you apply with fewer than 1,095 days of presence in Canada, a citizenship judge will evaluate the nature of your residence in Canada. You will be asked to complete a residence questionnaire and provide evidence that establishes residence in Canada, and you might be asked to appear in person before a citizenship judge. When you apply with fewer than 1,095 days of presence in Canada, your application will take longer to process and may be refused by the citizenship judge.

Deciding to apply with fewer than 1,095 days of presence in Canada is a personal decision that should be made carefully and take into account your personal circumstances. If your application is refused because you did not have enough days in Canada, you will then have to fill out another application form and pay the fee to go through the entire process again.

Thanks Edu for your reply. I can apply for citizenship without 1095 days physical presence but the judge will decide, right. I was out Canada for 8 months due to marriage. If I can back up and prove my abesence strongly then is there any chance to get refuse? Need advise please.
Thank you

If you are out by 8 months due to marriage, good luck trying to convince a judge to grant you Citizenship. Your application could be mailed back to you before it reaches the judge. Better to wait till you meet eligibility, judges should be avoided if possible as most are too numbed to excuses and not very patient.
My friend applied few years ago, signed off her application about 20 days too early and got it mailed back to her. It was her mistake. She was going out of town for 3 months so prepared and signed off her application, and told us to mail it off on a certain date. She forgot to post-date her signature / date and the whole application came back.

Thank you Anon 210.64.196 for your response. What I got from discussion that I should wait until 1095 days of physical presence? Anyway, thanks for your real example.

Citizenship (in reply to: Want to apply for citizenship!!!!!!!!!Need advise)
I would highly appreciate if someone could guide me properly on the following matter
"Out of 5 years one must stay in Canada for 3 years to attain citizenship. How about one lives in Canada for 2 years and have the PR card renewed for next five years and then live for another one year to make total 3 years before applying for citisenship. By this one will complete the 3rd year on the renewed PR Card - is this allowed?"
Thank you for your help in anticipation.

no. the card expiry has nothing to do with physical presence. CIC says to you today... show me 3 years of physical presence in the last 5 years- regardless of the dates on your PR card.

nice try.

Nanny Program / Sri Lanka (in reply to: Want to apply for citizenship!!!!!!!!!Need advise)
Our good friend was told before coming to Vancouver Island that after working as a nanny for 6 months she could
apply to immigration and soon after have her husband and 2
children come to Canada. Recently the wait period before
sending the application was upped to 24 months, and now has
recently been changed to 29 months. This past February/11
was 24 months and she sent in the forms, but she was told
the wait may still be another 29 months.
Please, do You have any advise for her and is there any-
thing that I as a citizen can do to help. I have a hard time doing camp work for 2-3 weeks away from my family.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
