http://www.thestar.com/ House listed at $549,000.00 sold for $715,000.00 and believe me it is not much to look at from the outside.

Want to get a house, better get it before HST implementation. In BC, we are mad as hell about the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) - sneaky to announce it shortly after election.

We are getting it as well in Ontario.

This is a good news story because it shows unlike Britian our recession is over.

HST only applies to new housing stock.

Just sold my place in less than 48 hours. July had record sales in BC. Realtors suggest there is huge pent up demand from people sitting on the sidelines watching the prices fall and the economy faulter.

Question remains - what happens after everyone buys that has beens stalling. Economy is far from being in the clear moving forward. For sure, the mood is much better than 6 months ago.

WOW to list and get an acceptable price to be able to sell within 48 hours!!!

Not that there are no worries out there but focus on this that there are always worries out there.

Other people are not totally reckless so if the housing market is behaving so in the East and West this has to be a barometer of the countries attitude toward the economy.

Large groups of buyers have gotten the housing market wrong before but all of these people purchasing residences now have to had been aware of what happened last October with the international economic melt down.

Every time I try to be an optimist someone finds another angle to the same story. That is a good point of view to have because purchasing a residence is probably the largest purchase we will ever make.

It is always better to buy then rent in my opinion.

you are saying wow... I was saying holy ^%$&$. Subjects came off tonight. Was not expecting it. Bank is telling me that July was crazy. August is slowing down again.

I rode this wave in 82 and I am not convinced we are done yet. Everyone thought it was over and then it tanked for a second time within 18 months. That said, I am not sure I want to stay out of the market. Off looking to replace my investment tomorrow.

I have less than a month to move. Got a spare room?
