Subject: extension of work permit
  Hi everybody,
i´m currently in post graduate employment, the 1 year work permit is exempt from HRDC and will expire in March 2005.
- i´ve legally stayed in Canada for at least 1 year but i´m not yet admitted legally for 1 year stay in the future, can i apply at buffalo now or do i have to apply at my home country?
- if I submit PR application now, can i extend my work permit w/o HRDC?

No, I don´t think so, there are three option for u, one is self-employ, 2, go back to school, 3, apply back to home country.

my suggestion, Do HRDC right now, if you have relationship something

I submit it at just right near I have more than 1 year and 2 weeks before work permit was expired.

Can you share how did you get your post secondary work permit too?

If you have work-permit right now, why don´t you use your SIN number to register your own business, no matter it earns money or not, pay your GST to custom and revenue of Canada. When you need renew your work-permit, submit your tax slip, I don´t think CIC will refuse a business that is paying GST. However, I know this is a little bid hard to people who live in the big city, since most of small towns like my Nanaimo has policy to encourage entrepreneur.
