Subject: help explain visa type
  Dear all,

For the immigration purpose, I will be leaving for canada in S-1 (student) visa and my spouse is leaving with me in V-1 (visitor) visa. Will my wife be permitted to work? She has valid visa for two years, multiple entry. I am surprised she is not treated as my dependent but a visitor. I will appreciate your responses!!

Best wishes,

No, she cannot work in Canada. In order to work in Canada she would need a work permit.

Cheers,

Bill

If you are coming on a study permit then she can apply for an open work permit to work. The open work permit allows a person to work in almost all kinds of jobs. Since you have already been granted visa, she can apply for one after entering Canada.

document advice to reapply (in reply to: help explain visa type)
Hello,

I am trying to attend the Adventure Travel World Summit from 19th to 23rd October 2009 in Quebec Canada on the behalf of my own adventure company Ace the Himalaya www.acethehimalaya.com My company is privately owned by me from last two and half years , I am the member of Adventure Travel Trade Association as well (who is the organizer of summit in Canada)

Yesterday on 10th August 2009, I received my passport back from Canadian High Commission New Delhi without stamping visa ( I only requested for 6 days temporary resident visa). The following reasons was given , please advice what to do. I had explain my situation for each factors as well.

1. You have not satisfied me that you meet the requirements of Regulation 179; that you would leave Canada at the end of the temporary period if you were authorized to enter. In reaching this decision I considered your ties to your country of residence/citizenship balanced against factors which might motivate you to stay in Canada

2. You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident in reaching this decision, I consideration several factors, including:

a. Your history of having contravened the conditions of entry on a previous stay in Canada (I was applying for first time to visit Canada)
b. Your travel history (I have been to couple of Asian country such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand etc)
c. Your immigration status (I am from Nepal)
d. Your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence (I don’t have any one in Canada, I am married man with 3 years old son living in Kathmandu)
e. Length of proposed stay in Canada (I applied only for 6 days visa, my return ticket was with my application)
f. purpose of visit (It was to attend the Adventure World Summit, I submitted the invitation letter from ATTA and hotel booking confirmation from Fairmount in Quebec)
g. Limited employment prospects in your country of residence (Don’t know about this but I have in my own business from last two and half years. The business is being really good)
h. Your current employment situation (I have provided all the documents of my company Ace the Himalaya which is my solo company)
i. Your personal assets and financial status (I have submitted the evidence of currently having $ 70000 bank balance with much bigger bank transaction plus my property including my own house and land in Kathmandu which is worth of CAD 300922.53. May be it was too much?) .

I will only reapply, if they can guarantee me to provide the visa because I am not willing to pay visa fee again for no reason. Do you people can give any advice as I really wish to attend the summit as I have paid the summit fee already and been arranging pre-meeting with couples of attendee via e-mail already. I don´t believe the reason is true. I think the Canadian high commission did not try to contact ATTA or even my company to get further information while processing visa. They think purpose of my visit to Canada is not genuine. I don´t know how I can satisfied them that I would leave Canada at the end of the temporary period if I am authorized to enter. I have my own deluxe life in Nepal, having my own cars (three of them), drivers, house, well running business, my wife and son. Why do I live in Canada? For what reasons? My question is how much should plan on spending in Canada for six days stay?

I look forward to hearing from you soon. You can personally write me at prem@acethehimalaya.com To get more information about my business visit www.acethehimalaya.com

Regards
Prem

do you really think it is wise to put your full name, email, website and how much money you have on a public website.

You may be wealthy but you are not too bright.

rejected application (in reply to: help explain visa type)
i have been working with emirates air, for almost five years, under flight operations, and my job profile is senior cargo agent. i have been getting around 7000aed.i was born and brought up in dubai, i have attached a covering letter to that how much i love staying in dubai, even though my dad is retired, still he holds visa, and my mom too. they have rejected my application and marked the regulation 179. i wanted to visit my aunt with my mom, as my aunt has done her open heart surgery, they have send me invitation and the letter of doctor too. i showed the bank statement of a year, company letter, even the return tickets. letter of my company and the staus of my leave. still my application was rejected.
as i have been with airline so it is a chance to avail the tickets which are for no cost. still considering the fact that im working with a reputed firm. i was been rejected.
i have travelled four countries..within five years what they have asked to fill in the form.
is it because i hold a pakistanian passport?
my mom is so depressed and heart broken.

(in reply to: help explain visa type)
no, it is because they see that all you family is here and that there is a very good probability that you would not return to your ´home´ after your visit.

you will need to address this concern in a new application.

REJECTED VISA (in reply to: help explain visa type)
Shoaib bhai, pls dont get dishearted and heart broken. I used to work in Dubai for a large multinational organization and when I applied for the first time for Norway, they gave me real hard time to get the visitor visa to see my sister for Eid holidays...

Anyway, my friend dont worry and contact me and will guide you how to obtain the visa now..remember visa is not our right but a privilage, if we get one..
