if a person enters canada, and said, "i am married" at port of entry.

and then apply for PR as single...would the CIC be aware of it?

because my friend just got his Open permit and i guess on its way close to PR maybe after 4 months...

Is your friend married?
If he is and he didn´t declare his/her spouse in the application then that could be a potential problem.

When he/she tries to sponsor his/her spouse, CIC will find out that this individual misrepresented him/her self and CIC will come after his/her permanent resident and he/she will never be able to sponsor his/her spouse EVER.

And yes, misrepresentation is a serious offence in Canada.

Cheers,

Bill

thanks Bill.
My friend doesnt need to sponsor his spouse. Because the girl is a canadian citizen.

i just dont understand why the information provided at the port of entry and the application for PR was not noticed a conflict.

just an update:

my friend went for a vacation with a canadian fiance, to get married. on their way back, at the port of entry, the white guy was asked about his vacation so long (5 weeks).and he said, he got married. while on the line, my friend was asked if they are married, prior to saying he is a fiance. until, she said, o okay, we are married.

under LICP- she applied for open permit and PR without saying that shes married. (conflict to what she said at the port of entry).

still, she got her open and PR.
