Subject: Dear ROY
  I would like to ask a question on my application, if I may. I have filed my H&C a year back and waiting for the decision. Few days ago, something urgent came up back in my hometown and I need to go back for just for couple of days. When I discussed this matter with consultant, he told me that my application would be withdrawn automatically once I leave the country-unless it is united states- even if it is for a day. I´m not sure how true is that. Would you be kind enough to share your thoughts on my situation?
regards

You have an application for Landing FROM WITHIN Canada and you want to leave.

Well if they don´t know you left why would it be withdrawn immediately when you leave. The point is how are you going to get back in and what will be your purpose for coming to Canada????? Can´t get in as a visitor if you applied for PR status under H&C.

So CIC basically don´t know whether I left or got back in? I´m not sure if it is easy like he said but I was told that I can convert my one-time entry visa into multiple entry visa within Canada though. If I could get that done, it wouldn´t be problem to get back in. But what concerns me is that, my trip would somehow hurt H&C application. Thank you very much for giving your time to answer my question.

Read Roy´s post again. If you are outside the country and can´t get back in... how will they process your H&C? If you have an H&C in process you can´t get a visitors visa.

Would it hurt your application - yes. would you get back in to the country once you left - probably not.

@sharon,
I think you miss the part where I said, that consultant told me that I could convert my one time entry visa into multiple entry visa WITHIN CANADA. If that is feasible, I don´t need to worry about getting back in. The only concern I have is that, would CIC hold my leave against me during H&C interview? Thanks you very much for your time
Regards

Even with a Temporary Resident Visa, you can be stopped at the border. A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), single or multiple is for people who are visiting / staying in Canada on a TEMPORARY BASIS. If you applied for H & C inland, you are not a GENUINE VISITOR, and so can be refused entry.
And you do an in-Canada H & C because you can´t do it in your homeland so to leave Canada and return to your homeland may contradict your argument. If you can leave and return to your homeland, you can file from your homeland so your case may not be deemed as a H & C case. My thoughts anyway.
