Subject: Finally....
  Hello::
Today it has been a very special day for me since I arrived in Canada almost two years ago. I almost can´t believe that I´l go to bed without having to worry about the status of my application.
After one year and four months of sending my application to Vergreville, Alberta my status changed from In Process to Desicion Made. I could not sleep last night thinking of that letter that must come within few days so I decided to cal CIC to know about the outcome of the desicon and they said:
You hace been accepted to become a Permanent Resident Of Canada. An Immigration Officer will contact you within the next months :
It feels do wierd not to be worried and feel like a normal person again.I almost can not believe it yet.

Timeline (in reply to: Finally....)
Congratulations!
Good to hear that someone has actually been declared a permanent resident. I have recently had my application returned to me because one box wasn´t ticked, so I must send it back to Vegreville. Do you know whether my application will continue to be processed, or if it will go back to the end of the line and start all over again and I have to wait another 5 - 6 months? I don´t think I can afford (financially or emotionally) for that to happen. What happened with your application? Thanks.

I have no answer to that question... (in reply to: Finally....)
I am sorry but I can´t answer your question. I would suggest you to call CIC and ask them. One suggestion when you call them ::: You know they say for service in English and Pressez le deux pour le service en francaise(something like that). They give you a third choice that says: If you have a rotary telephone hold the line and one of our agents will anwers your call. WELL EVEN IF you don´t have a rotary telephone HOLD THE LINE..and you will know if they are busy or not in a faster way. Ohterwise if you press one for service in english you have to go thru the whole list of menus which is more frustrating if you find they are busy...
Anyways in my case (common-law one) the did not return my application...some documents were missing and they just asked for them in order to continue processing. I sent them and they started to process my application 6 months after I mailed it.(I have to say they misplaced and when I called 5 months after I sent itthey said:: NO SIR WE NEVER RECEIVED YOUR APPLICATION...you can imagine how I felt ...so what they asked because they could not find it is to fax a copy of it and the receipt of payment. Anyways eventually they found the original documents (they misplaced me under a different last name(My last name is a bit complicated by the way).
Well anyways 98 days after they started the process Approval in Principle was granted and a bout a month and a half later i got my work permit(you know you have to apply for it). After this....y was in process over 10 months. My status finally changed last tuesday to desicion Made.
This is my experience with them and my best advice is to read the forms carefully and provide everything they ask for. If they don´t ask you certain documents don´t even bother trying to get them...They will ask for everything they need if they need it.
I wish you good luck and I hope you don´t have to start all over again

To american refuse.... (in reply to: Finally....)
Thank you for your congratulations American Refuse. With all honesty i have never ruled my life trying to impress people or to impress a country. I think I would have to be very naive to believe that I am the star that Canada was waiting for. If I ´d have to answer your question I´d say I come from a country with a strong cultural background and I am an artist. Art has no borders and as an artist you can contribute to the multiculturalism of any country and also learn from them.

Thank you Sharon.... (in reply to: Finally....)
Thank you very much Sharon:::
I´ll give you my timeline when the whole thing be finished.
What I can say about the process is that it´s been crazy and I was under stress for over a year and four months. My case was very straight forward and I provided the information they asked for. We filled out the application ourselves and we did not send 200 pages like many people do. But we made sure everything was very clear.
By the other hand I have to say I am gay and I know the canadian government may not be perfect but I will be pleased to file my taxes very soon because for me it is very important to support a government that supports me.
I am very realistic about all the hindrances that many people can face when you try to find a job. For me hasn´t been bad because I´ve just been to just one work interview and I got it. I am an artist but also I have a career in Hospitality and also I was a care giver in my home country. I speak 3 langagues and as an artist I have the ability to reinvent myself. I have to admit that I do like Canada , I feel so bad for people who can´t work in their fields but my biggest advice would be::: Find out what is the shortage in the canadian market and try to get a degree and get canadian experience as well. BUt the biggest advice is::::STOP BEING SO WHINY AND NEGATIVE ABOUT CANADA::: IT WILL BACKFIRE AGAINST YOU!!!! Get down-to-earth and realise that there´s no perfect place in the world.
If Canada does not fill your expectations you always have the choice to go back to your home country, but don´t bring negative energy to new immigrants.
Thank you very much for your welcoming Sharon, I´ve got into this forum sometimes and I think I´ve read about your case with your fiance:I wish you succes with your application because succes is for smart people.
My best energy for you....

What is this? A gay pride parade or something? I hope canada is not becoming a land of fruity ppl. I would like to see gay ppl maintain a low profile.
