Subject: Sponsoring a new person
  Hello,

I have put forward a sponsorhip application for a spouse who´s in syria 7 months ago.

Two months ago, things were not working out between us and i cancelled the visa before she would get it, the file is closed.

Now, im thinking of going to syria and getting the divorce under syrian law. Under Canadian law, im considered seperated.

My question: If i divorced her there and found a new spouse, can i sponsor the new spouse while providing the divorce paper from the previous spouse?

Yes if you get leggaly divorce then you can find new spouse and the time you sponsor her you can prove that you already divorce and make sure you bring divorce certificate and send together with all the sponsorship document and i hope everything will be fine.
Did u canceled visa before issuance or after issuance?
Good Luck

Before Issuance (in reply to: Sponsoring a new person)
Hi, thanks for your reply. I cancelled my application before the visa was issued to her and therefore my file was closed. I also got a confirmation for this in the mail and email.

Im thinking i should be fine as long as i provide proof that im no longer married to the first spouse. (im getting the divorce in syria and getting a paper from there)

Someone had mentioned that i had to wait a year or two to sponsor another person, but i dont think thats true since she never received a visa or came here to begin with. It ended before she did.

the bigger challenge is to prove the new relationship is genuine.

Genuine it is (in reply to: Sponsoring a new person)
Of course sharon its a standard to prove one´s self that his/her relationship is genuine. My first one was, but unfortunately as towards the end of the application process we argued a lot on the phone and i decided not to move on as its better for both of us. I had to send two letters, one to the Missuaga office and the other to the syrian embassy in order to cancel the visa, it was never issued.

I think after an engagement and a countless budget on phone cards, western union bills, phone calls, gifts, gold, a party, a plane ticket and countless hours of running around overseas and here should be genuine enough.

Too much info i know, but i do plan to find the perfect one for me which is challenging by itself. God makes it easy when one has patience, honesty, a willingness to struggle and a hope to succeed. I learned a lot the first time. But it did cost a lot too.

thats a whole topic by itself :) All i can say is im open to that option too, i just have not found the right person yet. Background does not matter to me. Character/good ethics are what matter most.
