Subject: Average expenses to hire ATTORNEY ???
  Hi

I am new to this forum.

I want to sponsor my wife and daughter (daughter is US citizen). They are in Bangladesh now. I am planning to go through the Attorney.

I landed in 2006 as a PR. I Got married in 2007 and moved to USA on a contract job for 1 year. Stayed for a year in US with the wife and had a girl. Then my wife went back to Bangladesh and I came back to Canada then I went back to India for a few months and now I am back to Canada and working on the family sponsorship.

1) I want to know how much are the average attorney expenses and overall fees for wife and daughter.
2) I heard that I have to inform cic that I got married and had a girl. I haven´t informed. Will this be a problem.
3) Do I need police clearance certificate, fbi fingerprint certificate from US since she stayed for a year. I don´t have it.

I live in Guelph,Ontario. Please share your valuable experience and advise.

Thank you so much
MS

your first post is 3 hours old. I would suggest you learn a little patience.

your question can´t be answered with any degree of accuracy

1) lawyers charge about $300 an hour plus disbursements - all your CIC fees etc. Budget $5,000. Check the references of the lawyer. Perhaps a qualified consultant might be a better option. Most laywers are not familiar with immigration law.

2) I am assuming you landed with the same status you applied under. therefore you are under no obligation to inform CIC of a status change.

3) yes, she will need to provide police clearances

4) you will need to show that you are intending to live in Canada and fulfill your residency oblilgations before you will be approved as a sponsor. Since your landing in 2006, how many days have you been residing in Canada? do you have a job?

2)Yes. I landed with the same status as mentioned.
4) Around 3 months. I just got a job and working full time now.

You mean to say Immigration consultant is a better option for me than a lawyer.

Thanks again.
