Yes, I too would like to know the PR info. raised in the prior topic, and I´m flying out in 2 months. When I asked the embassy on collecting my visa, I was hounded out without answers as there were many people !!
Q1 - My passport expires Dec 2010, & the visa expiry date on PR certificate & Visa says Dec 2010. Does this mean that my PR status too expires in Dec 2010?
Q2 - If so, how can I get my PR status extended when the current PR visa expires Dec 2010?
Q3 - I too will apply for citizenship after 3 years. What happens if I do not extend the PR status after Dec 2010? Will I be deemed living illegally in Canada? Will I not be able to re-enter Canada if I go abroad? And will it impact a citizenship application?

Thx jp, but one question remains (in reply to: Help - flying out in Nov 2009) Thanks for the answer jp. Just one question :
- when I get my PR card after arriving in Canada will it show an expiry date ?
- if so, will this be 5 years? It appears from your answer that it certainly won´t be my passport expiry date.

(in reply to: Help - flying out in Nov 2009) The card expires 5 years after is issued.
Your status (permanent resident) doesn´t expire JUST YOUR CARD.
Cheers,
Bill

(in reply to: Help - flying out in Nov 2009) Hello,
I applied for Canadian immigration in June 2007. A week ago, I received a letter from the CIC that i should submit my document. I did my PhD (Molecular Medicine) in international graduate school of University of Ulm Germany. Currently I am in Germany but moving to USA (I got Postdoc there) next month. What should I do? Should I inform the Embassy? I am very willing to live in Canada and do not want to further delay my process.
I have done my PhD in international graduate school and I am author of 5 international publications and 17 abstract (which were presented in international conferences): Do I have to still give ILTS test.
