I understand UK citizens can visit Canada for 6 months without any visa.
I´ve gained my PR & fly out in 2 months. My mother would like to accompany me & stay in Canada for 6 months. Both of us are UK citizens. She is a housewife, but financially independant (she owns properties in a few countries).
My questions are :
1. From people´s experience, does anyone think there is likely to be a problem with airport immigration granting her a 6 month´s visa?
2. I´m currently buying a one-way ticket for her, as I don´t know how long she´ll be allowed to stay. If I buy a 5 month return ticket, and on arrival airport immigration grant her 3 months, I´ll lose the funds on the return leg. I am buying through the airlines "CANADIAN AFFAIRS" & they do not permit change of dates. will this cause a problem?
3. Is there likely to be an issue if she continues to visit me succesively for a few (say four) years, staying for 6 months each year? I do not plan to sponsor her as :
(i) she would like to stay in Canada only during the summer, not all year round,
(ii) she plans to live in sunny Malta from 2017,
(iii) after I gain Canadian citizenship in 2013 (?), I will return to UK for a few years before finally returning to Canada to settle for good from 2017.
Cheers

(in reply to: Visitors from UK) Don´t buy 1 way tickets it may cause problems.
Since she has an European passport; I don´t think you will face any problem to stay 6 months each year.
Try to buy tickets from other travel agency where you can change the date..
