Subject: Canadian Experience Class
  Hello,

I will be completing my two years of employment in Canada on 15th October, 2009. I wish to apply for my permanent residency after that under CEC. However, I had taken 3 months of unpaid leave from my employer last year, and had gone back to my country for personal reasons.

My question is - On October 15th 2009, will I be considered to complete two years of employment or for 21 months only. I do hold a valid till October, 2010.

Please let me know. Thank you :)

Tough question. The rule is two years. I don´t know what to do with the 3 months.

The only thing is to issue an employment letter stating when you started and ended. In this case, the three months of absence will not appear and can be considered as vacation time. However, your absence (leaving and arriving records) should be in the system.

So the vacation time during your job is not considered as part of the two years and has to be compensated. In other words, DON´T take vacation!
