Subject: Initial work permit applicantion as a PR applicant
  Hi,
I´m an International student in Canada since May 2007, have a valid study permit until sept 2010. My application for PR was submitted on Sept 2008 (Buffalo, US) and now I have a file number and I got a letter from a Detroit office (my application was transferred to Detroit) that my initial assessment was done and I dont require personal interview to finalize my application but they have asked me to update my wife´s information (I got married recently and I had sent in a mail to Detroit office to inform my change in family status).

My wife (PhD holder from India) came to Canada few weeks back as a visitor or dependent (visa valid for 6 months) and got an offer of Job from the University (Post doc) where I am currently studying. Therefore, she sent her application for initial work permit (Job offer letter is attached) and to change of status to Vegreville office at AB.

On the other hand, I have to include my wife to my PR application as I was informed by Detroit immigration office. My questions are;
1. If I update my wife to my PR application, such an update at this point of time affects my wife´s work permit or not?

2. What will happen if I wait until I hear final response from the Vegreville office about my wife´s work permit and then update my PR application.

3. Is my current PR application status affects my wife´s work permit application? or she has a chance to get it approved without any problems?

Getting a work permit for my wife at this stage is more important to me then updating my wife to my PR application. Could you pl advice me which is the right way to go?

I appreciate your time and response!
Regards,
Anil
