We have to return my daughter´s leased car to the US. We are all PRs and she is on H1 visa currently on a project in the US. Is it ok for her to drive from Canada with the car, return it to the dealer and come back. Hope there are no problems at the border. Has anyone done this? Pls advise - thanks!

(in reply to: returning us registered vehicle) I´m not Roy, but I don´t think there will be a problem. When you say leased, the important thing is where the car is currently registered. If U.S., it should have the proper U.S. state registration documentation. But normally, a PR can take any car with valid U.S. or Canadian registration into the U.S. The issue is coming back to Canada, where PRs are technically not allowed to bring U.S. registered vehicles without importing first, according to Canadian law.
As an H1 visa holder, U.S. border control may ask to see the car´s registration, and may want to know for what purpose and how long it was taken into Canada. There´s a lot of car smuggling and both sides are checking for illegal vehicles, especially with visa-holders.
