I ahve a question reagrding proof of fund and bank statements. I am currently have none of the the money needed as proof of funds. However, I will have saved the necessary amonnunt (ca. $10,000) by the middle of the year. Once this money is on my account, I won´t be using it for anything else - it will be parked there until I leave for Canada, if I get a visa.
I am aware that if I go to be interviewed (Paris), they will likely ask me for bank statements going back 1 year at least. Does it matter that I will only have collected this money in the last few months? Or does this not matter so long as the money is there, and remains there until I prove my funds again at port of entry?
Thank you very much for any help!

(in reply to: Proof of funds and bank statements) They ask for 3 months of bank activities now... so as long as buy the interview time you have 10,000 in your account for 3+ months you should be okey...
Make sure the money is there for last 3 months before your interview.
And yeah... when you send the application you should show them 10,000 which I know can be begged, borrowed or steal... that doesnt matter to CIC.

(in reply to: Proof of funds and bank statements) we were asked 2 different times to send in proof of funds prior to a decision being made. They waived our interview. You must be prepared for a funds request at any time.

(in reply to: Proof of funds and bank statements) Thank your for your replies!
One other thing just occurred to me - can use the rather sizeable deposit (about $2,500) I have on my (rented) flat to put towards the ca. $10,000 proof of funds? I´ll obviously be getting that back if/when I leave for Canada. Would this count do you think?
It´s currently parked on an account in the joint names of me and my landlord (that´s the norm where I live), and would be relaeased once I give notice on my flat (minus any damage, of which there is none yet, touch wood)

(in reply to: Proof of funds and bank statements) I do not think they would count the money in a joint account. you do not have total control of the funds (a CIC requirement)

(in reply to: Proof of funds and bank statements) kinda tough!!
Ask a loan and keep in your account. You can return the money as you earn. You may have to pay interest; but that is something trivial. Remmember; CIC wants to ensure you have enough funds to give you a good headstart for your own success. Sharon is right you are not sure when they may ask for a statement. Mine is kinda like hers. I was asked twice once when I filed papers and next when my interview was waived with other docs and medicals. Then you also need to carry with you to land in Canada. So I guess best is to secure the amount and then proceed with application. No reason to get your´s denied.

(in reply to: Proof of funds and bank statements) if you are going through the embassy in Paris... it goes quite quickly (80% of files completed in less than 12 months) so your money really needs to be there and available from day one.
