Subject: Separation before Landing

I have two dependents (Wife and a Son) and we all have just got the Immigrant visas but haven´t landed in Canada yet. Now I have decided to get separated (Not Divorce yet) from my family. My question is should I go and finish my landing procedures alone or I have to inform the authorities first about my situation? Please help me.

Thanks

I think it will depend upon who the principal applicant is. Is she sponsoring you or you´re sponsoring her.

I think if you are the principal applicant, there will be no problem but I don´t know if the opposite occurs. I just guess. Wait for the experts Roy or Sharon.

I am the principal applicant and in the landing papers they are shown as dependents on me.

I guess if you are the principal applicant, it doesn´t matter if your dependents land or not. Wait for experts´ opinions.

However, the main issue is that your marital status now has changed from married to separated. CIC demands notification of any changes in your status prior to landing.

Dman it! Why you or your wife didn´t wait a little bit to land and finish everything.

I think now she is not interested in going to Canada and I think if she doesn´t land before the expiration of visa then her visa will automatically be canceled. So what I was curious about if I go and land myself and get the PR status. Since she will not land therefore her visa will automatically be canceled and then in case if we get divorced I shall tell the authorities about the divorce after that. Now which way is correct:-

1. Go for landing and get PR status alone and if get divorced tell them.

2. Tell the authorities first.

If I choose the 2nd option what would be the procedure?
