Subject: Just a quick question re CL application?
We sent our application to sponsor my common law spouse September 17, 2009. It was received September 21.

Sponsor approval letter received October 15. File was transferred to Manila and ECAS showed file in progress as of November 4.

I have read many timelines on various forums and it is pretty much standard to receive AOR and passport request within a week or two, many in a few days after the processing starts.

It has been now three weeks and we have heard nothing? Any idea why we would not hear anything to date? I guess as everyone knows the waiting is a killer.

Regards,

Mrmagoo.

Let´s get you out of your ignorance here.

1- There is no common-law spouse. It´s one of the two, it´s a common-law partner or your spouse.

2- Your sponsorship was approved by Case Processing Centre in Ontario and the file has been transfered to Manila to finalize her PR application.

3- AOR means Acknowledge of receipt. That being said, it means that her PR application has been received at the Embassy NOTHING MORE AND NOTHING LESS.

4- Now the visa officer, has to review the application send you an initial assessment where they are going to tell you if an interview is required or not.

5- Then, they will finish the background check.

6- She has to do her medicals if not done already, pay the fees and wait for a passport request if there are no complications.

All this might take over a year.

3 WEEKS????? Where did you read that?

DocD,

Manila usually asks for passport submission at the time it issues an AOR. This is only for spousal application. So, mrmagoo is not wrong in expecting an AOR and a passport request letter. PPR at this time does not mean that a visa will be issued or CIC has completed the processing.

Medical for outland sponsorship are done at the time of file submission to Mississauga and not after initial assessment has been completed.

Spousal application can be processed in as little as 2 months depending on visa office.

Please don´t make fun of people who come to this forum for help.

Just a quick question re CL application? (in reply to: Just a quick question re CL application?)
Hello Samm thanks for your kind words, I cannot understand for the life of me why people come on this forum to insult others, especially when they are the epitomy of ignorance.

We did receive a request for documents and passport as I suspected, unfortunately it was via a phone call, the letter as I feared did not arrive. The mail in the Philippines is absolutely terrible.

Mr. DocD has absolutley no idea what he is talking about and it is sad that he would actually think he knew what he was talking about when he/she knows so little and has nothing better to do than go online to insult people rather than help like so many other kind folks.

Anyway the waiting continues, thanks for your kind words. Good luck.

Regards,
Mrmagoo.

You seem to attract trolls almost as much as me. Have you ever heard back from that guy who said you had a weak case?

Hi Roy, I think you attract alot more trolls than I. It is apparent that you are very experienced and knowledgeable and consequently although you are kind enough to offer expert advice on this forum free of charge when this is what you do for a living, you often tell people what they don´t want to hear.(the truth).

I spent a year in the Philippines and most of my time reading and studying about this immigration process, only because my partner means so much to me and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I went through the OP2 manual and provided every single thing they asked for as proof of genuine and ongoing relationship.

I knew our case was very strong and convincing but I guess human nature is such that one you fear refusal so much because it means so much that you want someone who has been through it many times to re assure you and make you feel better.

That individual was so obviously putting me down to scare me into thinking with his help I could have a much better chance to be successful, he uses this forum to simply promote his business, not to assist those in need.

The last thing one needs is someone to insult you or call you ignorant because you call a common law partner your common law wife. She is my wife to me, with a marriage certificate or not, I do know the difference but if someone doesnt like it they dont have to read it or insult me.

Thanks for all your support and assistance over the last few months, my partner went to NSO yesterday and applied for the CENOMAR and will have it in about a week and deliver it with the passports to the embassy in Manila.

I am in Toronto for a few more weeks before heading back to be with my honey. I would love to buy you a cold pop if you are available.

Have a great day and keep up the good work.

Respectfully,

Mrmagoo.
