Wife threw me out!

Subject: Wife threw me out!
I came to Canada last April after getting married to a Canadian Citizen in my home country. Problems arose between us from the time I landed foot here. As soon as I arrived, I started working in my wife´s bakery - for 6 months straight with no pay. I was not allowed to carry a cell phone, and all my papers including my passport were confiscated.

To keep the story short, I was kept on a very short leash under the threat of jail and deportation (and towards the end, with physical harm). After finally getting fed up with the situation, and stating that I no longer am willing to live as a slave, I was kicked out of the house. My wife and her family told me that they will return the papers to me if I give them $25,000. I agreed under the condition that we do the transaction with a neutral party (a religious priest). Her answer was NO, and that I had to pay first. I refused since I don´t trust her or her family

I found out now that she is trying to get me deported by going after a marriage annulment under the pretext of sexual ineptitude (I did have some problems in that department, but she knew about it prior to me coming here. We were supposed to seek medical help in Canada but that never happened. I also have the medical records from the doctor who seen both of us PRIOR to our marriage, and the marriage was consummated with the help of medicine.)

I asked a lawyer and was told that I better wait and leave the ball in her court, and I should only move forward with legal action if she moves first. Does this make sense? When I came here I had $10,000 which she took - am I not entitled to anything back? I don´t know what my rights are here.

Does anyone know any good family lawyers in the Toronto area? I would really appreciate any insight anyone can give me.

What is your status in Canada? Are you a Permanent Resident?

You are a PR of Canada. As long as you did not commit misrepresentation, you don´t need to worry. Juts don´t forget to take your medicine for that DEPARTMENT.

Dear EJ,

Ok, They cannot do anything to deport you and as a next step you should contact the authorities, there are several counts here that would be sufficient to start an investigation. Contact your local RCMP and tell them what is happening. Verbal and physical abuse is a crime in this country. If you can´t afford legal representation there are several organizations that will be able to help you out.
Forget about immigration this whole thing is outside of CBSA and CIC´s juridiction.
Act NOW. You may try to contact Police Chief William Blair 416-808-2222 Domestic Violence Division RCMP in Toronto.

My two cents,

Cheers,

Bill

all i have to say is... what a bitch.

she is the one is is walking outside the legal boundaries... take her to court... you might be able to get your 10k back... and maybe even the 25k she is demanding you by suing her for abuse. get your papers and a clean slate... take her to court first..

You cannot be deported if you are a victim of human trafficking (even though you are a male, and not being prostituted out, this sounds like human trafficking).
You need to call the RCMP and CBSA immediately. RCMP will help with your immediate case, and CBSA can help for protecting people from this lady and her family.

If you are not in the RCMP´s jurisdiction please call your local police department.
The police will be able to help you in this matter as what she is doing is illegal.
