Subject: Full-blown background checks? (Bill?)
  Hello,

I´ve heard CIC does background checks for ´every single country where the applicant has lived in´ (previous post by Bill)

What exactly does that mean? How is it different than the province/state/ and country police checks that are sent in as part of an application for permanent residence - do they wait for, say, an FBI report, then double-check it themselves with the FBI?

Thanks!

You know what I think, I think it´s not possible to do thorough background check on applicant country´s side unless he/she is from developed nation. Because I came from under developed country and I know how government offices in our country keep records on individual person and how cooperative they are when it comes to enquiry. If CIC wants to find out if certain applicant has a good character like his character clearance certification claim to be, they need to contact respective local police office which I know for sure they will get no answer. Mainly because they only keep paper record as opposed to efficient computer database system and it is obviously arduous work to verify it. Most important of all, they are living on measly income and they won´t do anything for you unless you bribe them which I think CIC won´t do. CIC can be considered lucky if they even get a chance to request. That goes same for other documents such as graduate certificate etc. So the best CIC can do is to check their own database system and see if this person ever been to canada and have criminal records. That´s it.

@ranga
It´s simple. Whenever you enter/depart a country, the authority at port of entry put a date stamp on your passport. So by that, CIC can certainly tell how long you have stayed there.

Let say for example you lived in Spain for 7 months and you decided not to declare that.

When you fill the forms, how do you justify that gap of 7 months in your work history or your residence history?
If you say, you stayed in your home country and you didn´t work during that period hence there is no employment record and so forth you are going to have to lie some more here and there until you will finally get caught at some point in time and then things will go south in a hurry from there.

Isn´t it easy to tell the truth right from the get go instead of looking for defects in system where a lie can fit in?

Cheers,

Bill

For some reason, US immigration office flag me for preventing to returning. Right now, there is administrative records but no state and FBI criminal records. Will my immigation application to canada be rejected because of this once being backgound checked? are there any connectiont between US and CANADA immigration system?
