| Subject: Settlement funds during landing. |

I have just been given an immigrant visa.However I have some concerns.I am finding it difficult to get my money converted to Canadian Dollars which will be shown to immigration officials during landing.I am from Nigeria,the only currency available here is the US Dollars.Also no bank wants to issue bankers draft in Canadian Dollars, only in US Dollars.PLS ADVICE ME.

Hi Olumide,
Congrats on obtaining your visa. I don´t think you have much to worry about as the funds do not necessarily have to be in Canadian Dollars. Just ensure that you have the equivalent amount of 10k CAD$ in any of the major currencies. You will however have to bear any loss associated with converting the money into Canadian dollars when you ´land´.
I´m a Nigerian too, though based in Jand and will be landing with the pound equivalent of 10k Canadian dollars.
Where are you heading for? Toronto?
