Subject: Extension of visitor status. |

Hi
I am currently here as a visitor from the UK, this status will expire in January, however I would like to extend my stay. I am currently living with my Fiancee whom is a Canadian citizen & he is supporting me, we want to get married next year but not until the summer when my family can attend but I don´t want to have to leave before we get married.
Would the best way of staying be to apply for a visitor extension? If so would I need to give a reason other than to stay with my Fiancee otherwise it could be rejected because they may think I plan to stay illegally.
I do not want to be separated from my Fiancee but I do want to do everything above board so that I can apply for permanent residency once we are married without having any worries.
Any advice on the best way to proceed would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Over stay (in reply to: Extension of visitor status.) Hello Josie,
The Immigration of canada will extend your visit only if you can provide a ligitimate reason for the extention of your visa. My parents had extended the visit visa because we were having a baby, but after they left and tried to come back there visit visa was refused because they over stayed. When you have applied for visitor´s visa you have given the visa office the reason for the visit becarefull when u change that reason.
2nd option is to get married on paper ( registartion) then u can be sponsored rightaway by your spouse and you can complete the ceremony once your family is here.
Good luck
