Subject: Certified true copy? Notarized? Pls. help!
  Hi all,

I am worried about what to send to CIC Buffalo. They asked me several documents and one of them is my IRS State and Federal Tax returns. Can I send them copies that were filed by H & R Block in my behalf? I´ve been using H & R Block for filing my income tax. Or do I need to get the copies from the IRS? In the lettter that I received, it says that unless documents are original, it should be CERTIFIED AS TRUE COPIES. Can I get the other documents notarized as certified true copies instead?

Does certified mean notarized? Did you receive any letter from CIC Buffalo requesting to submit documents that need to be certified as true copies? What did you do? What did you send? Did you have it certified as true copies or notarized?

I need you advice. I know my questions sound dumb but I need to know which is which. I´ve waited long enough to get a response from CIC Buffalo so I don´t want it screwed up.

Best,

Ethan

I was asked for certified true copies of my birth certificate. What I did is take them to a notary and she did all the job... she even did it for free. Notary should advice you better.

Good luck!

Most banks in the U.S. offer a free notary service. Check with yours. Make an appointment with them if there are several documents to be notarized. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually less busy for most corner banks and they should help you. I got all my documents done at my local bank for inital submissions and later during medicals.
