  To All

Human Interest for those Immigrants planning on setting up their new homes in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) who have a fairly new style of HD TV. This is for those that think why pay for TV when it is not necessary! For those who do not care to pay for cable or satellite services at $25.00 to $100.00 per month, every month, year after year.

New Immigrants moving into the GTA who have purchased a newer HD type TV to watch High Definition TV have three choices on how to get HD channels.

OTA
Cable
Satellite

To get HD TV the Satellite & Cable companies send their HD signal scrabbled to your residence and then you need to purchase a High Definition box for around $250.00 to unscramble their HD signals.

OTA signal is unscrambled and in my opinion a better quality HD signal. Clearer, crisper, quality.

Then if you use Cable or Satellite you have to pay for what channels you desire in the package they offer with a big plus if you want extra HD signals.

In the GTA if you can put up a (OTA) HD antenna with a fairly clear view of Lake Ontario you will get for FREE the following Channels in HIGH DEFINITION;

CTV CFTO HD
CBC CBLT HD
SUN TV HD
City TV HD
GLOBAL TV HD
TV Ontario HD
CBC French HD
CHCH HAMILTON HD
OMNI 1 HD
OMNI 2 HD
CTS HD
NBC HD
ABC HD
CBS HD
FOX HD
TBN HD
CW HD
PBS HD
MY TV HD

OH I ALMOST FORGOT THOSE TROLLS WHO DO NOT CARE ABOUT CANADIAN ISSUES LIKE (WEATHER) THAT WITH (OTA) YOU WILL GET THE NBC SPORTS AND WEATHER CHANNEL IN STANDARD DEFINITION FROM BUFFALO.

Plus about another eight plus channels in standard defintion.

19 HD channels for free which include the American networks Fox, ABC, NBC & ABC.

NOW YOU PERSONALLY COULD GET MORE HD CHANNELS BUT THESE ARE THE STANDARD HD CHANNELS AVAILABLE FOR FREE IN THE GTA.

Our TV shows most local channels like CFTO Toronto Channel nine as Channel 9 (SD)Standard Definition and CFTO Channel nine as channel 9.1 (HD) which is the same channel but in High Definition, etc. etc..

Cost of a quality outdoor OTA (Over The Air) HD antenna $57.00 or you could use rabbit ears cost $35.00 from Best Buy/Canadian Tire.

I have never found one TV store like Best Buy, Future Shop, Audio 2001, etc. etc. sales person who will tell new immigrants or anyone about OTA availability. These sales persons are suppose to push the HD Boxes so Bell Express View, Rogers Cable, Star Choice can suck them in to use their systems at mega bucks per month.

Do you think this information would be of interest to new Immigrants?
