Subject: In-land spouse sponsorship/ CBSA
  Hi all,
Husband is a failed refugee claimant and applied on H&C grounds in 2004 but has not reach the PRRA stage. Wife is a PR. We met in 2008 and got married in 2009, applied for in-canada spouse sponsorship in June09. We have not received AIP so far, file has been transferred to local CBSA and husband has to report to CBSA every month.
We are just wondering what stages people in similar situation are at and if there has been any new developments. Most importantly, does anyone has any idea about the time line?

First Spousal applications never get transferred to CBSA.

You paid CIC for an answer prior to be called for a PRRA and they will give you one.

Go to www.cic.gc.ca and look at the date Vegreville is processing right now and compare it to the date you submitted.

Your husband reports once a month because he is on a bond for doing something wrong. Failing to change address, report etc.

Hi Roy,
Thanks for the reply.
You are right! He notified his lawyer of the change in address but the lawyer forgot to update CIC hence the monthly reporting to CBSA.
When we checked online for our sponsorship status, it says file has been transferred from Vegreville to local office since aug2009.
We went to our local office. the lady checked online with the client ID and said that the H&C application and the sponsorship application are merged and both are with CBSA now. She also said its an enforcement file. She said once CBSA has made a decision on our file, it will be transferred to CIC. Thats why we are so confused because we thought the sponsorship file will be handled solely by CIC.
