Moncton is a small town and quite safe. There is no "other side of the tracks" as far as I am aware of. Real estate is steady and quite affordable.

Schools you can research online. Look up School District 2 which covers the entire area. District 1 is the French district, covering the entire province (where French is available). If schooling is your primary concern, ask your realtor for advice. As everywhere, the quality of education greatly depends on the neighborhood you live in, although in general New Brunswick schools test quite low. You can look all this up in more detail online.

Depending on your situation and where you are moving from, you may find Moncton (pronounced Muncton)to be quite provincial. It is quiet and slow paced although you will find all your necessary services there. About half the population speaks French as a first (and often, only) language. While not much goes on in town, you will be close to the beautiful white sand beaches of the Acadian Shore, the red sand tranquility of PEI, and just across the Tantramar Marsh from Nova Scotia.

Just curious: what brings you to New Brunswick?

Thanks for your reply...well,me and my wife are just considering the options we have in Canada where getting a job would be easier for me compared to the major cities.I am a doctor by profession and Canada is not very accomodating when it comes to doctors from other countries.I am a Canadian resident but I came back to finish my job here and now planning to go and settle in Canada as the time for the PR status is running out.You don,t seem to be too excited about NB so any other safe place that you would like to suggest for me and my family keeping in mind I belong to medical profession as I am totally confused.
Thanks

You have a lot of research to do before you come to Canada as a medical professional. You will definitely want to find out what the requirements are, how to go about getting certified in Canada, and how to go about gaining employment. Canada severely limits the amount of doctors they train and employ; it is highly competitive and very difficult to get in. My understanding is that foreign qualifications are not easily accepted (though many of our doctors are foreign born thanks to extremely limited medical school opportunity country wide).

I don´t want to sound discouraging and heaven´s knows that New Brunswick is in desperate need for doctors, but I can´t stress enough for you to do a major amount of research before making the jump.

All that said, Moncton is a regional center for medical services. Their hospital has a good reputation and I think it may be the largest in the province. Moncton serves as the regional hub for the entire eastern part of New Brunswick as well as western Nova Scotia and PEI, and thus you will find services such as shopping more available than anywhere else in the province.

I would suggest perhaps getting in touch with someone at the hospital in town to start figuring out what steps to take next.

Good luck.

Ive had gone through Moncton on my way towards Nova Scotia.
Moncton is a cute cold cosy town. It is known for its skydiving and lovely neighborhood. It has also region´s largest fish market.its also famous for its sky diving facilities to theSky divers. But I´d always say, Toronto is the best placefor foreigners migrating to that country. But again all depends on how you prepare yourself for the compete ting environments for doctors.
