Hi everyone,
I need some help. I am a permanent resident in the US and I came from Russia. I have two misdemeanor convictions which can possibly make me removable from the states after I complete my probation. I think as soon as I pay the money that I owe the court, they issue a warrant for my arrest and then its a long process. I will have to be sitting in jail for months until I get deported. I have been living in US for the past eleven years. Right now I´m 22 years old and my Russian language skills are bad, not only that I wouldnt be able find a job because of my language and lack of degree I will also have to serve in the army as soon as I get back. I am very afraid of getting deported. I wanna find out what I can do before its not too late. So my main question is what can I do to move to Canada. Do my convictions prevent me from getting refugee or any kind of status?

(in reply to: Refugee) In your situation yes. Your chances of making a succesful refugee claim are very slim to none.

(in reply to: Refugee) 1) your life is not in danger if you return to Russia - it is only inconvenient.
2) you are currently living in a ´safe 3rd country´. Canada would not accept you if you are arriving from the US as a refugee.
3) criminal record makes you inadmissable.
sorry, Canada is not even a remote option for you.
