This was a good learning lesson for me and please learn from this! I immigrated from the USA when I was 13 years old in 1979 as a landed immigrant. I am now 43 and have been married in Canada for 20 years. I have two children 18 and 13 yrs. I have been employed with the same employer for 21 years within a union. Anyways long story short is that my $60,000 a year income came to a halt due to union problems and I found my life having some problems all financial then turning to drugs/cocaine to escape reality! Thus losing myself and selling cocaine to support my habit and then getting arrested and serving 6 months jail time! After that I cleaned up and put myself into rehab ( drug and alcohol treatment ). During treatment I was approached by the Canada immigrating about being possibly deported. I was found guilty and had to appeal which I won!!! Thank god, because I now lead a good life once again and I am back with my family and my kids will keep their father. I must see an immigration officer every 6 months and abide by their rules. Even if I get a few traffic violations it could bring me back into immigration court! So for 3 years I really need to be careful! I guess I should have applied for my Canadian Citizenship in the early 80s. Thanks Ferris

Be carefull with what?

So, your warning is that if you are a PR and you are planning on breaking the law, you should become a Canadian citizen first or you might be removed from Canada?

What kind of advise is that?
And you are not reporting to an Immigration officer, you have to report to CBSA. There is a difference between those two.

Great advice; I thought of taking the easy route to wealth but now that you have shown a real-life story of consequences, I am going to apply for citizenship. I hope that should open more doors. Remember: Canada is a haven for white collar criminals... just make sure you got the paperwork in order before you start the Ponzi schemes.
