Hi,
I got my immigration process complete thinking that maybe the hard part is done and getting a job as a doctor there like the internet says cannot be THAT tough but I was wrong.I landed in Toronto with my family a few months back but came back to complete my current job and I was thinking I would surely get a fellowship or ANY MEDICAL DOCTOR job and then would take my kids and wife as I am not that strong to just go blindly and end up there cleaning toilets.I have been searching for a job,position,fellowship for 8 straight months day and night whenever possible but sadly,no success and now I have started to think maybe this immigration is all just for the sake of foreign immigrant doctors to come to canada spend their life savings and end up doing odd jobs all their lives.Just for the record I have also passed one of the main Canadian exams but still no hope at all.Me and my wife are confused and seriously thinking if we do not find a suitable job there in the next few months what will happen to our PR status..most probably we will lose it!!!!Please can anyone give me any clue how to get in this tough tough medical system for foreign trained doctors....I know there is a doctor shortage in Canada and I am so eager to work there ANYWHERE as a doctor but sadly Canada is just not accepting me..........and I will not go there till I find a job coz I have 2 lil kids to feed!

I am sorry this is happening to you but... how long was your application in process? did you not do ANY research about what the challenges might be for you to practice medicine? Check with the College of Physicians and Surgeons for an honest answer but I think you are going to be very disappointed with their answer. A lot of it is going to depend on where you were trained.

Oh come on don´t be a wussie! Canada NEEDS docs but they can´t take just any tom or dick (are you Saudi Arabian Doctor [SAD]); you need to have strong qualifications from countries that Canada DEEMS are equivalent. Saudi is no good! If you are a doctor somewhere and have family to support, why not stay there? Doctors usually do good in any system where they are practicing (money-wise). What would it take that country to open your greedy mind and learn to love the place of your birth? There are tens of thousands of greedy folks coming here from India and usually whine for most of their waking hours. You may end up with them since misery loves company.
You need to man-up and learn to appreciate good things you have in your life right now (your education, professional status in home country and a family) and for heaven´s sake, learn to love that poor fucking country of yours!!! It can´t be that miserable... as they say, you could move to Canada and become a taxi driver (there are plenty of cabbies in the cities here who were supposedly well trained and well paid and highly upstanding models back in their countries).

Dont loose heart as Canada is best place to live and raise your family. Obviously, as Sharon have said, you should have done your realistic research as how to practice medicine in Canada but having said,, it is still not too late... My personal family doctor was educated and trained in medicine in London, England. Tney both were doctors in UK but they had to go through rough two years before they could pass all the necessary exams to practice medicine in Canada. Now, they both work and have own successful practice in Mississauga.
So, your first step is to contact the following organizations:
The Physician Credentials Registry of Canada (PCRC), a division of the Medical Council of Canada (MCC), was established to provide a centralized repository for physicians’ core medical credentials. This service is designed to reduce duplication of effort by gathering, verifying and permanently storing credentials in a centralized repository.

You have to have your residency training either in Canada, US, or to lesser extent UK in order to be recognized by the Royal College of physicians of canada otherwise you have to repeat your specialty training years in Canada to be eligible to practice, which is extremely hard.
I did my residency in the United States and became American Board certified. The Royal college has recognized my training and I will take the canadian specialty exam to increase my chances of working here.

Thankyou Sharon and to the last 2 people who were kind enough to feel and comment in a little KIND WAY as they don,t know me or from where I belong so whatever u guys have written will surely help me in one way or another.I did research and the best options I had at that time were of Canada or USA but I had already passed one exam so i was hopeful coz one of my fellow doctors got a fellowship immediately but sometimes things don,t work out exactly as u plan.

I absolutely loved Canada and the people there in my visit and I am hoping to find a job one day and give my kids a beautiful,peaceful place to live and breathe and I am hopeful just a lil sad as I don,t have a job for now but God must be having some good plans for my family!!

Asad jee, very well said and be positive, stay focus and committed to pursue your professional goals, you will succeed eventually....don´t worry about people who thinks negative all the time....

Dear sad doctor dont worry Allah will help u. There r times when man thinks he is not in the right direction so he should go to "Alah´s House" and ask him for help. U r lucky that u r in KSU the most loved land by the creator of all worlds. He is the only one who can help u.

Yes that would be great cos I have already missed one golden opportunity to go for Haj when I was in Jeddah around haj time but had to go back to Dubai for work assignments...
